The Oasi has been carried out very close to the Motorway A1, the dumping of Case Passerini and of the relative composting plant, and it is situated in an industrial area. The Oasi, with its lacustrine basins (Calvana, Morello, Calice, Acqualunga and Focognano Lakes), is one of the last witness of the typical historical landscape of the Piana Fiorentina, a territory that is largely urbanized nowadays, after the big reclamation works of the first half of this century. Its environmental features, the very numerous kind of visible birds in the different seasons, the possibility to arrive there easily by public transports, the great projects of environmental redevelopment and the different techniques of management of the habitats adopted, grant this Oasi a sure interest both for people who are keen on the naturalistic observation and for people who are still unexperienced of this discipline. There are hundreds of schools, that take part in didactic projects of the Oasi, with theoretical and demonstrative lessons (by slides) and with the observation of the area. The Oasi has a Visits Centre, a didactic Room, Nature paths and Observatories.
