Tandem of Peace on Thursday 15th June 2006

Sixth day

The group of Tandem comes back in Italy

Piccolo San Bernardo

Alarm clock soon, both for breakfast and for leaving soon. The trip is started in doubt: the difficulty to face a climb of 25 km with a difference in altitude of 1300 metres. After getting on the van, tired as always for having slept for little time, we have admired the mountain landscape, that was in front of our eyes. Arrived at Bourg St Maurice we have unloaded the bicycles. In few time we have left for an "impossible attempt". Ettore was very sorry, because he couldn't come. His bicycle seems not to work, but thanks to the help of Mauro, the driver, they have found a mechanic for bicycles that has repaired the bicycle and has allow him to face a great part of the climb. The climb has been very hard and the group has been separated after little time of way. The father of Carlo has kept the times of arrival that we have made. Arrived, without any stop, at 2200 metres we have waited for every people to recompose the group and after down by bicycles for a descent of 20 km until La Thuille. Reached the citadel we have put the bicycles on the minibus to arrive at Alba soon; "the name mustn't deceive you" Carlo has said humorously "because we must be there at six o' clock in the evening and not in the morning". Arrived in time, we have had a meeting with the associations of the Comune and with a group of students, who took part in an initiative that send helps to Bosnia. Finished the meeting, we have eaten nearby the gym, where we'd have to sleep. Like the other evenings we couldn't go to bed without going out to have a drink, and so after having been late again, we have gone to bed very tired. A particular regard for Fiorella, the Mayor of Campi, who has celebrated her birthday these days. Best wishes by all the Tandem.
