Documentation Literature for the childhood Section

This special section, situated in a room on the first floor of the villa, is proposed as a special library in the area of the reading, of the analyse of the publishing and literary phenomenon relatives to the book for teenagers, of the libraries for teenagers, of the illustration in the field of the literature for the childhood. The available materials include essays, specialized periodicals and documents of grey literature. The room has a reserved table for the users who need to consult these specific materials, with 8 seats. Regards the essays, the materials go from the analyse of the reading phenomenon from the historical, methodological and pedagogical point of view, to the proposals of precise paths, in conformity with the different age brackets, or to the investigation abouth the relationship between reading and school and to the suggestions to build school libraries. The periodicals of literature for the childhood are available for the consultation and the loan, except the current number. To facilitate the users in the consultation has been worked an indexation on paper support of all the magazines, except LiBeR, that has indexed consultable on computer, through the assistence of the staff of the library. From 1990 the library is centre of collecting and documentation, through Grigia Database, of the publications of grey literature (in the acceptation of material distributed out of the commercial channels) produced in Italy by the institutions that work in the sector of the book for children and teenagers. It's a mixed material - catalogues of shows and libraries, bibliographies, acts and relationships of promotion of the reading, periodicals, inventories, publications of and for teenagers - originated especially from the public institutions. This production, that results often privileged way of publishing news and of new inclinations not only for the narrative, but also regards the sectors of divulgation and illustration, is result of the lots of activities that in these years are achieved at the strong movement that has interested the world of the book for children and teenagers. But these materials, for their nature and aims, are of limited circulation and so of difficult finding for the operators interested to follow the most significant experiences at national level. The documentation of these materials - that in these years has been gone on thanks to LiBeR through the Materia Grigia index book and Grigia Database, included in the CD-ROM of LiBeR Database - answers to these needs of information. For the consultation of this material is better to ask the assistence of the staff assigned to the reading room.
