The Service of documentation "Gianni Rodari Library" is active from October 2002, when it was transferred by Villa Montalvo the Gianni Rodari Library. This service has contributed notably at the adfirmation of the Service of documentation "Gianni Rodari Library" like point of reference of national level in the ambit of the services for the world of the book for teenagers. For managing publishing and bibliography activities matured in the course of the experience of the Gianni Rodari Library in 1996 has been founded by the Comune of Campi Bisenzio - that is up to now member of majority - the society Idest s.r.l, active in the sectors of the documentation, of the publishing and the service for the information. From 2002 Idest is entrusted also in the management of service by the Library of Villa Montalvo. Teachers, librarians and students of children's literature find in the specialization of the library of Campi Bisenzio the necessary resources for their work. Particularly interesting are the recourse at the service of documentation by students and searchers of the faculty of Science of the formation of the University of Florence and the activities of research and apprenticeship promoted by Associations of formation and conventioned Universities with Idest. These experiences are at the basis of the choise, done in 2004, of stipulating a triennial convention between Tuscany Region and Comune of Campi Bisenzio for the realization of a regional Centre of services for the libraries for teenagers.

The catalographic and documentary choises are impronted at the maximum deepen of the bibliography description of the documents and at a rich equipment of instruments of semantic description. The library news are exposed in the shelves situated in the zone of entrance of the children and teenagers spaces of the library. All the new accessions are however destinated to the children and teenagers rooms, available for the public of the library and also for the interlibrary loan.
Children Space and Teenagers Room
The children and teenagers area, on the ground floor, offers to the young users appropriate ways of access and fruition of the diferent existent materials, foreseeing also the conditions of a free and informal use of the material also for activities of animation of the book. the teenagers Room, with materials for a more evolute reading.
Documentation Section on the Literature for Teenagers
The section is like a specialized library in the area of the reading, of the analysis of the publishing and literary phenomenons relative to the book for teenagers, of the libraries for teenagers, of the illustration in the field of the literature for the childhood. The available materials include essays, specialized periodicals and documents of grey literature.
Grey literature
From 1990 the library is centre of collecting and documentation, through Grigia Database, of the pubblications of grey literature (in the acception of material distibuted out of the commercial chanels) produced in Italy by the associations that work in the sector of the book for children and teenagers. This is eterogenous material - catalogues of shows and libraries, bibliographies, acts and relations of promotion of the reading, periodicals, inventories, pubblication of and for teenagers - coming especially from the public associations. This production, that result often privileged vehicle of publishing news and new tendencies not only for the narrative, but also for the sectors of divulgation and illustration, is fruit of the different activities that in these years are got at the strong movement that has interested the world of the book for children and teenagers. But these materials, for their nature and the aims, are of limitated circulation and so of difficult finding for the operators who are interested to follow the most significant experiences at national level. The signalling of these materials that in these years has been carried from LiBeR, through the "Materia grigia"adress book has answered to these exigencies of information. Grigia Database is realized with CDS/ISIS of the Unesco. Like for Liber Database the documentation is effected on the basis of standard and international bibliographic and biblioteconomical codexes: maximum deepen (3.level AACR2), structure in conformity with ISBD(M), accesses fo each kind of responsability and until 10 for each tipologies, choise and form of the obligatory main and secondary holdings in conformity with RICA, naked of the contributes contained in the documents using the system of the notes of contain expected by ISBD(M) and AACR2. School and Periculture Section

LiBeR
LiBeR, quarterly of bibliography information published by the library from 1988 realizes, presenting in every number all the bibliography signallings of the publications distributed in Italy in the last three-month period, a bibliography controll in the sector of the publishing production for teenagares and intends to assure to the librarians, teachers and operators of the eductional cultural field the necessary instruments for selecting the books and proposing them then to the young receivers. This documentary soul of the initiative is linked to that more critical one's that is realized in the presence of articles, monographical intervenations, bibliographies and reviews treated by famous experts; doing so, LiBeR proposes itself like observatory-laboratory of the phenomenons and the tendencies that emerge from the publishing production for children and teenagers.
Liber Database
Liber Database is the automatized achieve containing the complete and deepened documentation of all the books for children and teenagers came out in Italy from 1987, distributed on CD-ROM like support integrative to Record, quarterly founded and published by Idest that presents contributes of reflection about problems and choises of documentary politics linked to the book for teenagers and reports of experiences of work of the libraries in the ambit of the cataloguing and bibliographical information, over to the suggestions and answers to questions of the users on the use of Liber Database. The CD-Rom proposes over to Liber Database others important achieves: Lind, the index of the magazine LiBeR, Grigia, the documentation of the "grey literature" of the sector. Liber Database is an important aid in the bibliographical researches, thanks to its system of subjectation for arguments and key words that permits to realize deepened paths of reading different for age brackets. For the public and school libraries that use different software of cataloguing it represents an aid for the derivate cataloguing. About the datas taken out Liber Database is always interested the "Rapporto LiBeR" that every year, in occasion of the international Fair of the book for teenagers of Bologna, LiBeR has proposed to the operators of the sector: an instrument of work - used more times also by the Press Office of the Fair Association - rich of statistic indications about the course of the publidhing production. Liber Database contains actually over 30.000 records. Thanks to the collaboration starts between Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale of Florence and Liber the serie at press Libri per ragazzi della Bibliografia nazionale italiana, started in 1995 to signall the pubblications for children and teenagers published and/or produced in Italy, goes on with the Bibliografia nazionale dei libri per ragazzi, that comes out like editorial insert of LiBeR from the number 74 (April - June 2007), replacing the present "news Dossier".

LiBeRWEB
The site realized by Idest offers to the operators of the world of the book for teenagers datas about the publishing production, reviews, bibliographical indications, soundings. It's also a guide to the reality of the associations that work in the sector, with address books of libraries, publishers, book shops. LiBeRWEB is easily reachable by the main motor of research and recomended by the most important sites dedicated to the world of the libraries of the publishing and childhood. In 2005 the work of the site has been prized by over 170.000 visits.
Bibliographies
In the ambit of the "Gianni Rodari Library" Service of documentation have been realized lots of bibliographies and proposals of readings for children and teenagers, from 2004 available on the site of the library. Another strong component of the bibliographical proposal goes through the paths of reading proposed by LiBeR and that one's realized by the activities of Idest for the libraries, consultable in the section of the LiBeRWEB site dedicated to the emerged themes of the panorama of the present literature for teenagers.

On the basis of the convention between Tuscany Regione and Comune of Campi Bisenzio, by the Library of Villa Montalvo is active the regional Centre of services for the tuscany libraries for teenagers.
